It's been a while... I'm back from Brazil...not too happy about it, especially in this frigid weather. I left Mr Fragoso there, though it wasn't my choice. I offered him a spot in my luggage, but...there wasn't room, and there's a weight limit. He has a visa interview on the 29th...leap year... As likely as his chances of getting that visa. If he gets it, he'll visit me here in chi-town for the month of April. I would be the happiest girl in the world if that could happen. However, I have no idea, and might spend the next week of wondering in a strange state, and don't want to think of how I'll feel if a denial reaches my ears 1 week from Friday. This was a depressing "I'm back" entry, but...I guess I'm depressed about it. Send chocolate. And a Brazilian named Joaquim.

Slept in Had a picnic in the warm sunshine with watermelon and ice cream Got beautiful earrings from a sweet guy I call my boyfriend Got nice shoes from minha sogra, which were a little too small because in Brazil my feet are apparently enormous (that was embarrassing) Ate some candy canes, sent from my parents Watched a sad movie, which was a bad idea Ended the night laughing with cunhadas and then falling asleep watching CSI Miami It was a Christmas like I've never experienced before, and I missed my family and friends...I still am missing them. I was thinking that if I were home I would probably be eating pie at Baker's Square with Rebecca, going to impromptu Christmas and New Year's "parties" with assorted p-town and dp ladies from days past, and going to California Pizza Kitchen with Janell. I would be cold, and speaking English and missing Joaquim, but really it would be nice to have been home for a week... For now, I'm here and a bunch of Joaquim's friends from Sao Paulo are visiting. Lots of male bonding, but they're nice guys, so I'm sure it'll be fun. It just makes me miss my girls!

Here we know that Christmas will be green and bright The sun to shine by day and all the stars at night A day alone...going shopping! If I can find the mall walking. Hmm...

Ahem...well, after an overly-excited entry a few days ago, it has now been determined that the Allen family will indeed be staying in PALATINE for Christmas. Sans their eldest and most lovely. (That's me.) BUMMMMMER. Send candy canes. (Really.)

EDIT: Their tickets weren't issued, due to limited availability...trying again today. Ai ai AI... _-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_ On December 23rd, the Allen family will be landing in Brazil!!! At least Kenny and Brian know some Spanish, so they will understand the word "alto." Poooooor Brian..... YES!!
